brown wall behind the stairs, what material is it? And where can I get it from?
It looks custom built. What is the railing and newell made out of? Simple 2x4's? I'm trying to find someone local to build something similar and using
The steel was finished with copper sulfate and worked in by hand in multiple applications to create a patina that mirrors the finish of the stained mdf.
I was unable to trace back to who did the steelwork on this stair. CG&S carpenters put together the treads however.

probably a 6" cross-shaped steel column. we could also do this size in a I-beam section.
Steel-to-steel connections are of a different character than those of steel to wood, but their appeal is still evident. In this house, steel I-beams land upon cross-shape columns (most likely made up of multiple steel shapes welded together). The simple way that the steel disappears into the concrete
concrete slab is the antithesis of the beam-column connection above; it's a nonconnection, or at least one hidden from sight.

the I exposed I beams and Box beams
utilized this building’s steel structure to support a simple wood swing by drilling through the bottom flange of the exposed steel I-beam. “The two ropes supporting the swing are passed through these holes and simply knotted off above,” Hotson says. Why it works: This airy penthouse is already home to a trippy
a swing hanging from the steel beam; climbing holds on the post (!)
Maybe I can have a rock climb area in the playroom . .

Lynne, do the reclaimed beams need any finishes or sealers?
I like the choices for the wood and stain for the overhead beams and the flooring.
Wood floor, windows, beam above window, bright colored door, rug placement, lamp shade, wall scvonce, hanging large blanket on wall, overhead beams, wood
such as antique timbers or barn board, and industrial components, such as steel I-beams or steel components on furniture." A desire to work with sustainable materials also fuels this trend. In this room, rough-hewn reclaimed beams mingle with antiques and modern art.
