1/4 inch hot rolled, pickled and oiled steel?
This looks like cor-ten steel to me. http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/358346/list/Interesting-Industrial-Materials--Cor-Ten-Steel
Those are custom made steel boxes.
I have not heard of any problems. We all need our iron, right? I might avoid Cor-ten steel as it has other elements in the alloy. It would be good to get some expert opinions. I would think it is certainly safer than pressure treated lumber
I got some steel plater boxes made for me by sarabistudio.com and now my veggies grow twice as much and my garden looks like a piece of art

house. If you really want to see one trim element than I would do base boards and not casing on the doors or windows. A nice rolled plaster edge detail on doors and windows is my preference. Here is another Spanish house I did with a base, but no casing anywhere else. I like this look too. http://www.houzz
shade should reflect the shape of the base and what it is sitting on.
shade shape goes both with the base & the table it's sitting on
shape of the base and the shape of the table it's sitting on.
In general, however, it's best to choose a shade that reflects the shape of the base and the shape of the table it's sitting on.
Best lamp shade reflects shape of lamp base and shape of table it is sitting on.

Stainless steel features and cupboard handles
dark island and base with white top cabinets
color scheme - walnut base cab's w/white lacquer + stainless talls
What is their backsplash? Stainless steel?
dark and white cabinets, stainless steel and white counters.
Another dark-finished kitchen, though this one pairs with white cabinetry and black accents. The glossy floors and the steel give everything a modern levity.

Steel planters supported by rocks in wire cages
interesting stone idea, can make larger for column or table legs/base
What about boxing in rocks into steel?
The use of weathered steel & heavy gauge wire makes for an excellent landscape structure .
pebble-filled gabions support these planted rill-style beds. This design detail not only adds a new texture, but also creates a smooth transition from the steel of the rill to the gravel below.
been further customised with clever welding. If you’re not a dab hand at metalwork, place boxes on a couple of house bricks for an industrial-style base that boosts height and interest.

the rule when using different stains/paint/finishes on cabinets in the kitchen? Do I have to restrict an accent to the island or can I accent the sink base instead?
How high are the base cabinets
The base cabinets are typical base height, 34-1/2" overall.
creating a space for your needs and choosing colors and finishes that fit your style. You can certainly accent the sink base! What if you did the accent on both the island and the sink base? I don't know your layout, but do what you know you'll love!
This is a model number for a stainless steel sink (not faucet). I would like also like to know the Faucet model #. Thanks!

to invite some stainless onto my deck design to match my home. Most of the deck is all pressure treated wood, but my home is modern w/ a galvanized steel roof so I want to tie that into the deck. So I have a bar top to do, as well as a BBQ Island and potentially a table that I'd like to make the tops
The stainless steel bar top is custom. It is over 14' long and includes an opening for the BGE and a built in ice bin for cooling your drinks. Thanks for asking!
Accent with steel for a modern look. Lots of outdoor kitchens use stone and wood (which can be beautiful), but modern spaces cry out for something sleeker. Stainless steel counters are a great fit, and galvanized steel Tolix stools bring a little industrial cool.
