Can I ask who provided the wire cable banister and handrail for this staircase? I am on the east coast and it is difficult to find stair companies that are familiar enough with this style. ewilemon@verizon.net Thank you!

We have a large selection of Wire Mesh, both woven and welded, on our site at www.mcnichols.com. We can also fabricate into complete infill panels. Check us out!

the last example brings us to the most transparent type of guardrail: clear glass. This stair uses pieces that are held in place by the slender steel handrail supports. For safety reasons it is always good to use tempered glass, ideally with a laminate to hold the glass in place should it break.

it exposed metal and if so what kind of metal. Also, are those stainless steel cables or bars?
Where did you get the handrails?
How was the steel finished? Was it painted in place?
Love the handrail - could we get this design for just the handrails for stairs - on the wall?
nice design. I feel much better about the direction those who are advising me are taking it. I wasn't sure if painted steel looks good, but this looks great.

What is the finish used on the steel?
Thank you for your inquiry regarding this exciting stairway! The steel was “Blued” with a torch and then we applied a linseed oil with hardener directly to the steel. This does not completely eliminate the possibility of “flashing” (spot rusting).
Love the mix of wood and steel

What was used for the handrails? Are the rails 3.5 inches wide?
remains predominant, and the view takes precedence, I can now see exciting possibilities through new eyes. "Cheap" it is not. Grade 316 stainless steel is meant to last and require little to no maintenance.
