Cor-Steel with a salt water spray
Patinated steel often goes by the trade name Cor-Ten; the material is coated with a layer of rust through weathering. The application is popular in modern buildings and landscapes. One needs to be aware that the rust can bleed onto adjacent surfaces, such as concrete sidewalks below a weathered steel wall

What kind of steel did you use? Thanks.
Hi love the design you guys did! Are these faux boulders? How did you get them to hold up the steel are they just set up against the steel wall? Thanks
I would suggest going directly to a steel yard and getting what you need. They likely won't have corten in stock, but if regular mild steel is okay then you can probably get lengths of steel at 1/4" thick as wide as 12".
The boulders are real! I think of the stones as pinning the steel in place since the walls are all slightly concave and as the steel flexes in the middle it will push the stones sideways. These stones are quite well situated for any sideways forces
trigonometry, we went to work on the stones and cut the back and bottom sides of them away. Then we sent off the specs to the steel shop and crossed our fingers. The steel came and a crane truck helped us put them in place. What do you know, they fit! We can do it much quicker now with way less stone

Steel. Most areas require a specified width of a noncombustible material
material for a fireplace surround and hearth. (Check your local codes for details.) A steel facing certainly fits that requirement. A custom application that feels rustic and modern, steel is a great look. Cost: From $5,000 to $8,000 for raw materials, custom fabrication and installation.

we can see how the landscape between the road and the house is terraced to follow the slope. The native grasses are a nice contrast with the Corten steel edging, the pool that gets taller as it moves to the west, and the zinc-and-stucco-clad structures. "sueded" stainless steel finish that we used is that is show the aforementioned less than "traditional" stainless steel counters (it does, however, still show scratches and fingerprints...it's just the nature of the material). People often over-estimate the "stainless" aspects of stainless steel...it's not
No. They're stainless steel and no matter what finish you put on stainless you'll always have some "smudging" - they are, however, very easy to keep clean.
If you're worried about fingerprints and scratches than you might want to consider something besides stainless steel for your counters. While
They are custom stainless steel counters. We used a "sueded" finish on these which gives them a slight look of zinc.
