I am a complete and total novice and not handy at all. We have just had 3 trees cut down in our new home and I would love to make a stepping stump adventure corner in out garden. How do I stabilise the stumps to the grass?

off that beautiful path made of loose stones?
I have an area of my garden that has three huge Kwanzan cherry trees overhanging it. They drop a ton of leaves during the fall, which I collect and mulch, but I would like to put a soft (no digging, which would hurt the roots) path like the one pictured
