Clad a large column in stone. The imposing presence of the masonry column here reminds you of its purpose, while at the same time introducing a tactile material that contrasts with the rest of the soft interior. This could be a good idea for bringing some of the material from the home’s exterior inside

norm for Utah staying within a still neutral but more colorful palette & increasing my contrasts. I stunned the builder when I specified stone & sconces for the columns...he let me have total control on this one.
What type of stone was used?
Looks like Coronado Stone, but can't tell for sure. Thanks,
Do you remember the dimensions of these columns?
builder had not specified them with stone, that was something I added before that they were just plain drywall columns. When I changed that they had to modify the construction of them I am guessing they were a little over two feet wide...give or take with the stone.
I honestly do not remember for certain. I love cultured stone from owens corning best...but from what I remember when I designed this show home the builder may have had me select the stone from eldorado stone which was giving him a better price. It is not nearly as rich in color as

Do you remember the dimensions of these columns?
Hello, gmk82. This house was built before I came on the scene, so I don't have a set of plans or dimensions on these columns. I wish I could be of more help. They are quite substantial so I would guess that they might be almost 20" square based on the size compared to the tile flooring. I wish you
Elizabeth, I wish I could help you! I came onto this project after construction and didn't help with the specification of the interior stone work. I wish you all the best in your search!

We call the material Navajo. It is a type of sandstone. We manufacture it in a thin stone veneer or a full bed depth version
