I am looking to replace regular mulch with stones to create a more contemporary look and not have to remulch frequently. I imagine leveling the ground (dirt), laying landscaping fabric and placing the stones on top would suffice, yes? Just one layer since the stones are
I also wonder about leaves or twigs that get lodged in the stone. How do you manage what won't blow out?
Yes that would work, since the stones are larger, 3 to 5in in diameter.
LOVE the smooth rock and stepping stones
In this example of very strict, formal hardscaping, a geometric run of pavers are set in a sea of gray river stones. We might expect to see a line of formally clipped evergreens leading the eye to the spheres and trees at the end of the path, but instead the planting is loose and informal, being allowed

Beautiful yard. What are the stones that are used?
glossy finish was tricky and took 2 applications. But ultimately we ended up with the desired finish. There are black mexican pebbles between the step stones.

I was wondering where to find this style of pier cap and if they would look nice mounted on a stone pier (my piers are 10ft high by 4 ft wide). Any information would be greatly appreciated!
These were custom cast stone caps designed and built for the project. Unless your columns are a very standard size, it would probably be beneficial to have your caps fabricated to fit. Thanks.
