The surround is local Rhode Island field stone and the mantel, hearth and lintel are bluestone.
The horizontal slabs are primarily bluestone and the surround is local Rhode Island field stone.
The fireplace and mantle were custom designed by Marcus Gleysteen Architects.

Hi. Beautiful room. Can you explain why the stone on the fireplace was not taken all the way up to the ceiling? I want to do a stone fireplace in my living room with 22' ceiling. Not sure if it'll be too much if I go all the way up. Thanks!

up!!! I think with the long stone columns on the side adding stone all the way up the fireplace would have been way too much. Plus with the breakup of color and texture you really show off the great chandelier. Great look!!!

Yes, the stone was wrapped back.
Just zoom into the pic and you can see that the stone wraps to the sides. You can see it is a veneer panel stone that has offset ends that alternate at the corners. (You
dont like this kind of stone fireplace. reminds me of backsplash
