"The vertical garden takes a lot of care and water in a dry climate like Santa Fe's," he warns. "In a wetter climate, the care and water requirements would be minimized." Stucco walls: custom mixed

What types of plants are in this garden?
I live in central Louisiana; would a cactus garden be a good idea for this climate?

The plants you see here are all Mediterranean dry climate plants. The florida climate is far to humid and wet for these succulents. There are definitely some different aloes and agaves (not shown here) that will do well in the tropical climate
If you are in a frost free zone, they would work, as they don't take the cold well. This garden is 2 miles away from the Pacific, where the temps rest in the 70-80's. Many of these plants are fine in the low 90's, but not much above. They handle

I believe the groundcover you are asking about is sedum rupestre 'Angelina'. A wonderful succulent groundcover.
I love the combo of plants and succulents. For Jane's garden!
They are winter growers and may go into dormancy in summer, especially in extremely warm climates. Aeonium are more tolerant of moisture than other succulents, actually preferring the soil to remain a little moist. Prevent the soil from drying out completely but take care to not overwater. The plant in the black pot is Sedum rupestre ‘Angelina’. It is a drought tolerant succulent that also makes an excellent ground cover.
