What did you use for the door casing and trim?
square "casing and backband". Probably a 1x4, maybe a 1x5, with a simple backband around the doorways. The baseboard appears to be a 1x6 with a simple shoe molding (not enough detail in the photo to say more on that). Material is likely either FJP (finger jointed primed) or MDF (medium density fiberboard
FLAT DOOR CASING WITH A LITTLE SOMETHING
Smith & Vansant Architects PC
size of casing is used on these doors? I am looking for the width and thickness of the boards used to make this casing. Thanks,
all flat casing with 5 1/2" head casing and 4 1/4" side casing. The head is typically biscuit jointed to the side casings, glued and screwed to help control any seasonal movement.
1/2" head casings -- flush with the baseboard too (7/14"). They are from 1x poplar which is 3/4" thick. Hope that helps.
and door casings, but they do use a biscuit to help keep the joint stable. I wouldn't call the edges sharp, perhaps eased ever so slightly with sandpaper. The three coats of paint often provide ample easing. Hope that helps.
a head casing which is on the wall/beam, but it doesn't go up to the break in the ceiling so the top of it is flat. Hope that helps!

Square out the archways and add chunky casing.
Case it out. In a home with traditional details, it works well to case out an opening with painted wood trim. The trim may be the same size as your typical door and window casing, or it may be larger to reflect the larger scale of the opening.
