ChicagoBut in many cases the best way to design a screened-in porch for a modern box is to design it as a box itself. Such is the case with this ecofriendly vacation home in Illinois.

Agave attenuata. Also known as a foxtail agave. They are far and away the most popular agave to use in one's garden in Southern California, but in case you have cold winters I understand they have a lower tolerance for cold weather versus other agaves.
Is that compressed sand? Like the idea for Elsie's condition in case she falls. Plus it's not as hot in the summer as concrete.
