Love the book shelves, was the ceiling peak centered on the wall
putting in engineered hardwood and would like to know what the floor is. There is so much to learn esp. click vs. glue down!
If you have a small room to spare, this option is great book storage; concealed, practical, and comfy.
books are important in a country home/ lots of time to read and nice for guests to bring/leave/exchange
I like the low couches for under windows - either in play area or in view area. Like the bookshelves filled with books behind as well.
Love the endless book shelves and the reading area.
thousands of books. And this was with continual donations and a thorough going-over during our housewide decluttering. Now I can see I held onto books I didn't love for one or more of the following reasons: Sentimentality. I owned three copies of Pride and Prejudice alone, because one was the first volume

Swedish engineers. The houses in Sweden are smaller and they get very creative with their use of space. I picked up a shelf similar to the one here a few years ago there. I love their quality and the prices wont bust your budget!
Sort books. Just as with clothes, kids grow out of books. The good news is that books are so easily donated or given away. Keep any books that have sentimental value and clear out those the kids have grown out of.
children's books and a few toys. The shelf can be used as a play surface or a cozy spot to read a book or two. Plus, the shelf on the wall adds additional storage that mothers and fathers everywhere will appreciate.

stairs engineered wood? They are beautiful. I was looking at this kind of material for a floating stair I'm doing but was told it would not be a good idea for stairs. Can you tell me if this was prefinished, engineered and if so, were there any problems making them into stairs?
is an engineered wood (fumed micro maple form Oregon Lumber) and it is wrapping the structural lumber underneath. It was fabricated by a finish carpenter.
The reason I pulled this photo is to show what happens when the bookcase is painted like the wall. The books look like they are floating and in some areas this is a great look. This photo shows how it helps to not take away from the great staircase as it move up the space

9. Have a good read. Pull out your favorite design books, trashy magazines, or that novel you haven't had time to read lately and indulge. Curl up on the sofa, a chaise or even on your bed with a warm
