sedum you could probably find something that fits what you have in mind. Mine don't do well in direct sunlight, they preferfiltered sunlight. Another plant that might do well is creeping Jenny (not a succulent; a flowering evergreen perennial). I'm in New Orleans, pretty much the same climate- when mine

What are the names of the purple and green plants surrounding the sago?
This came from the plant dominant section -

Love the potted plant in the corner. For the front porch?
Wish I could plant like that

Can someone tell me the names of plants in this arrangement?
Does anyone know what the lower trailing, greyish plant that goes to the ground is?
The specific variety of the coleus is 'Sedona' and I believe the trailing silver plant is Lotus maculatus (common name Lotus vine or Parrots Beak) It can have orange or red flowers. Here's a link for more info on the lotus vine http://www.portkellsnurseries.com/plantdb.php?id=1556 I hope this helps
Coreopsis (perennial), yellow/pink dahila (tender bulb), rust-leafed coleus (annual), white-edged Euonymous (shrubby groundcover), and the silver trailing plant could be an artemesia (perennial).
