and can be pricey. we did not cut the gyp bd. just glued the tape up and over it. we tried a shallower cut on the MDF but the sheet rockers liked a deeper edge to feather the mud over the MDF. and the paper tape was preferred over the mesh tape. the paint finish is the same on both surfaces. have fun!

Did you paint the entire wall white then tape off the rectangles or did you paint the white after?
They are painted stripes. The white areas are where I taped off. Then you paint the tape edges in white to "seal" the edge, then wait for that to dry and paint in the color. This way you get a very clean edge. Also don't wait too long to take the tape off or it can peel the paint off too. Have fun!
