1901 Kitchen Remodel
What surface was used on the ceiling?
I see you put two drawers under the micro drawer. I am wanting to do that using same micro, but virtually no one else on Houzz has done it! Were the drawers nice and functional? Not too shallow?
What paint color did you use on the cabinetry? Its a great shade of mint. Very on trend! Thanks.
We used a bosch dishwasher with concealed controls that allowed for the cabinet door overlay. All the cabinet hardware and appliance hardware was specified
Yes, we used a tin ceiling in this room.
Thanks so much for your comments, the space is so beautiful in person. To the right of the sink is a Viking microwave drawer...easy to use and nice to tuck under the countertop.

Custom cabinetry was used throughout this project.
@psmazz: We reviewed the work of the builder that is going to construct our home. He used a square plastic inset piece that sat between the wall studs. It held the plumbing bits and prevented them from sticking out. He was able to push the washer flush against the wall. Unlike our last house that had

can you tell me specifically what kind of decking you used on the interior? Thanks!
stairs? And what kind of wood did you use? Thanks!
The wood is knotty Western red cedar. I believe it is left natural here. If you did want to seal it there are some flat sealers that could be used that minimally change the appearance
Beside upstairs, nice use of space
love the use of multiple wood colors
Beautiful example of Select Tight Knot Western Red Cedar being used in a modern space

of the marble wall in the shower and was planning for remodelling my bathrooms. Then an architect friend told me that natral marble tiles cannot be used on wet walls as they will absorb the water and shampoo etc and will leave stains. What's your experience and advice please?
What type of stone did Jennifer use on the sink?
We use a squeegee, a rubber-edged blade with a handle, after every shower. I only use soft soap to clean in the marble bathroom. Anything else is not allowed! Of course the natural marble is beautiful, changes over the years. But with the shower recess....hmmm, I would think twice before using marble
clean in the shower, as we're not allowed to use any abrasive bath cleaning products. Here I use baking powder mixed to a paste with water, cleaning with a toothbrush, not touching the marble. Hope this helps you! I would definitely think twice about using marble in a shower, if you don't have the time

in comparing the previous image to this one just how different the use of plants becomes when the designer uses Brookes' ideas. In my early years of working in garden design, after leaving college in the early '70s, I can remember using a very restricted range of plants in my Brookes-style garden designs
