What type of wood was used.
Pressure treated wood is not bad to use. Wood that was pressure treated after 2003 is ok. Before 2003 was when they used arsenic. ITS OK!

We used stainless steel screws and cup washers. You have to be careful not to drive the screws in so far that the cup washers sink into the wood. they are roughly 4x4.
