kind of stone is that in the archway? we love it!
since the stone in this particular house is more rough the homeowners decided on a more smooth finish to creat balance. It could be done either way though...
we like this stone with that color floor....

stacked stone on as the backsplash under the hood with a travertine subway tile acting as the backsplash under the cabinetry. Two tones of wall paint were used in the kitchen. Oyster bar is found as well as Morning Fog.
keep the stone clean behind the stove?
What is the name of this tile used in the backsplash? What is the stone selection for behind the stove? Is there a coordinating stone fireplace in adjacent room, and does it use the same stone or something complimentary? Beautiful kitchen... may be my example
travertine tiles in the backsplash? What color are the cabs?
What type of backsplash is this?.... Natural stone? Color? Thanks
travertine tile backsplash. Is that what it is? Does "sealing" a rough service truly allow it to be cleaned? The kitchen can be greasy place even in places not behind the stove. ( Maybe the stone behind the stove and the travertine could be reversed to allow for easier cleaning)

materials like stone, ipe and concrete combine beautifully to form a bold and contemporary garden. Layered walls perform double duty as both sculpture and a way to define gathering spaces. Contrasting leaf textures and hues harmonize with the hardscape, and plant masses add their colorful statement to the canvas
about the stone used on the main ground floor?
Could this type of stone be used without a concrete slab or does it require one?
What size are the bluestone tiles?
The stone is bluestone, which comes in different sizes. You could spec a stone thicker than these and sand set them.

Love the tile...can you give me the details...mfgr., color, etc.
is the countertop a laminate? if not, what type of material?
Unique stones like this have different names from different distributors. I can only suggest that you visit some granite warehouses and describe what you like and they may have a similar stone. Some of these unique stones have a limited availability as they go deeper in the quarry, the characteristics
newer types have a very low slip rating when wet... The Tile Council of North America has a new slip rating system called the DCOF AcuTest or Coefficient of Friction test. The higher the SCOF, the less slippery the surface. The Coefficient of Friction for each tile is actually stated on the Emser site

What type of material was used for this patio? is this natural stone? and is it set on a concrete slab, or just on it's own?
local stone quarry or yard. Good luck!
I like this alot.....Can you tell me why compacted stone dust versus other means? Would it be for drainage? Why would someone chose between this method & materials and let's say concrete and grout? Thank you Cathy!
local stone mason to determine selection and interest. This IS limestone country - multiple quarries in this area. Although I haven't dealt with the quarries directly - my experience has been to go through the masonry dealer and discussions w/our archtect. Can you see why houzz.com has been such
