I like the magnolia leaves tucked in the tree. I would love a garland that said something about Christ.

We used apple-ply with leaving the edges exposed. Our cabinet maker laminate it. Note that you have to laminate both sides otherwise it will warp.

Love the design, how much room did you leave for the legs below ?
Quartz, you can use Vim or Comet to clean out the stains with relatively ease. Another consideration is that metallic objects such as belt buckles leave streaks when scraped. This mark can only be cleaned with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and Vim, again with relative ease. If maintenance is a concern but

paint/stain finish on the posts, railing and casing with black rod iron spindles. would you recommend painting white for the casing and posts, and leave the handrail dark and the existing black rod iron spindles. the actual railing isn't as bad as the casing-it has drips and blotchy marks all over it
Hi libaxter, Marie here. Take a look at lots of stairwell pictures, then decide what look you prefer. I'd leave the iron spindles alone. Keep your posts and rail the stained wood colour. Risers, and moulding all white, similar to last photo. Find a picture, and then sand your painted pieces thoroughly
