of the balusters used here and also the stair depth. I am being told I need to use 3 balusters for a 10' stair width per code? I love your staircase here and it doesn't have three per stair so I am wondering about the stair depth and baluster size. Thank you!!
where the balusters are from and what size they are.
codes for baluster spacing are different from state to state. In California, the code spacing on a stair is 4 3/8" maximum between and 4" on a balcony or landing. In some cases you can use only 2 balusters per tread depending on width of the baluster and the run of your stairs. Keep in mind that even if
bottom of a baluster is 2" wide, if the top is tapered, the measurement between will be take there. While I did not work on the project pictured above, based on my experience, it looks like the spacing is at least at the 4 3/8" spacing or might be more. Not all photos you see on Houzz comply with every code
