I love the look you have created with exposed beams and painted cement walls! Would love to do something like that with our basement but we have insulation in between joists overhead and a contractor told us the walls had to be insulated? is that right? we live in Northeast USA

Is there a metal frame the wood was built onto or is it just straight wood? Because I'm doing a reno on a house, and there at two poles in the basement I need to make into a functional spot and was going to do this

Were there any changes made due to changing from unfinished basement
ceiling basement, however have run into difficulty with electrical inspection regarding what is allowed to be painted and what isn't allowed to be painted. Was this an issue for you and how did you deal with it? Thanks
finish my basement and my ceilings are already painted black and I was discuraged about that until I saw these pics. If you dont mind what was the approximate cost for this basement? I have about 800 sq ft I want to finish and the layout is about the same. Id like to paint the floors with epoxy. Thank you

been in basements were they were painted white and I think black works better. The bottom of joists were approx. 7'-4" and the ductwork was sometimes at 6'-6". Lighting design is the key to any successful basement project.

Basement ceiling does not need to be insulated. Back in the days, they used to do it because basements were not insulated at all (or badly insulated). When you remodel your basement, you insulate using spray foam or 2" foam board (xps like dow or owens corning) on exterior wall and something like
