My husband also gets bitten. I used to be dinner is served when I was outside until I stopped wearing perfume (He always wears cologne). Just soap and water for me!

I don't know if it's true for noseeums, but I know that eat/drinking dairy before going outside attracts black flies. The person who told me does medicine walks, and she waits till she's home for the night before she has her treat: a bowl of cereal and milk.

Phantom Screens
lbrown912, not being able to spend time on your porch with your husband is definitely not good! Have you considered swapping the existing screens` mesh with one that blocks noseeums? Look for a mesh with tighter weave and dark color (the dark tone of the mesh will prevent glare while still maintaining the views to the outside). Not sure what type of screens you`ve got on your porch right now (DIY or installed) but switching out the mesh should not be a big hurdle. For example, several US mesh manufacturers offer several mesh types that would work very well (Phifer 20/20 Insect Mesh or 20/30 Solar Mesh, Twitchell SuperScreen 17/17, etc. ) - it is easy to Google them to find out more. Hope this helps!
