Everything about this house is absolutely fantastic. It has successfully melded Modern furnishings with vintage architecture and is welcoming and comfortable. And the very best thing....the home is filled with art that means something and is not just cookie-cutter, fresh-out-of-the-designer-warehouse-giclee crap. The trash can in the bathroom is even sculptural! As an artist, I applaud the ways in which you have chosen and displayed some really great pieces!!!! I am always harping on there not being enough sculptural works on Houzz, and here you are with some. Yay! Designers, take note. The days to buy crap manufactured in other countries are over...time to support original artists right here at home.

Terrazzo floors can be installed for less the $50.00 in the mid $30.00 would be more like it for limited design, extremely nice and virtually maintenance free. Terrazzo is about the most modern floors that can be installed in today's design, incredibly green material with unlimited design and unlimited color. Here at Santarossa Mosaic and Tile we are installing Terrazzo in some of the most high profile projects in the area and in some very contemporary and modern homes. We are using mirrors as aggregate and all colors of glass, all recycled and reclaimed material not going into landfills here in Indianapolis. We have been installing terrazzo in homes and commercial projects in Indiana since 1924. Please come and visit.

A beautiful sunroom with french doors leading in and french doors leading out.
The natural daylight would be amazing and I can already see myself using the room every day. Ahhhh...the dream. :)

I would add on a room that I could rent out to pay the mortgage.

There are several state parks in Big Sur, but most of the land here is not protected, including the many homes along the coast There are also some designated open space areas not open to development. The California Coastal Commission does have authority over development in the coastal area, and this house would have been within the limitations and regulations set up in the county's coastal plan (originally developed in the 1980s through a hearing process).

Great discussion and fun reading all the various comments. What a superb concept of space, light, proportion and such beautiful finishes throughout. This home defines the very essence of 'a contemporary masterpiece'.

This piece had been painted over so many times that we didn't see the beautiful pattern around the frame until I stripped all the paint off. We then had it professionally restored and upholstered.
