Can't sleep if I'm not on my side of the bed, doesn't matter where, even in a hotel I have to have the right hand side.

I always prefer the ones that seem to have a random but geometric form.

Metal roofs can be noisy when it rains or hails, but they now make a noise canceling underlayment although I can't say how well it works. It is the color of the roof and the sun exposure it gets that will determine if it affects the home temperature. If you live in the deep south with no trees shading the roof, you would want something light colored to reflect the heat instead of absorb it since your air conditioning expenses in summer are generally higher than the heating in winter. If your roof is shaded by trees, then it doesn't do much. If you live up north and want ambient heat in the winter a dark color works better. http://www.colormatters.com/color-and-science/color-and-energy-matters

We installed metal roofs on a couple of our homes here in San Jose about 5 years ago, and they have performed well. There is some noise when it rains, but we seem to have gotten used to it, not much different noise than our old shake roof, and much less fire danger. Note, our metal roof does not look anything like the picture above, it looks something like thick shakes.

I also say go iron if your budget will support it however I like a very ornate wood rail. Use iron balusters.

You won't necessarily date your home with iron, but it depends more on the style of the rest of your home. Glass and wood are more common in contemporary and modern style while iron has a more classical or craftsman look. There's also a big difference between classical and dated, just stick with your style.

Both light and dark are great options if you plan the floor in conjunction with the rest of the room.

I've always loved the neutral look of light hardwood and grey bluish walls as in the example here.

I love tea with boiled milk, tea leaves, sugar, cloves, and cinnamon and zinger. Its perfect tea combination. I think if you starting drinking this kind of tea, i am sure you will stop drinking coffee

I voted for both which will be surprising to the Houzz UK office, considering my 8 cups of tea a day minimum, but I do love the occasional cappuccino or espresso!

I was renovating about 1 year ago and it was a dilemma for me as well, after a lot of consideration, I installed the hardwood and it looks wonderful. Makes the entire kitchen looks so elegant and I love it!

I do love the pocket doors.....especially when they're in an 1800's house!

I live in Australia and had a very romantic view of log cabins - bought all the log cabin magazines in my younger days hoping one day to build my own. THEN, I went to Alaska, where people had the most beautiful log cabin mansions I'd ever seen. Since then I really don't think they belong to Qld Australia. Perhaps they wouldn't look so out of place in the Snowy Mountains, but as much as I still love them, they belong in Alaska.

Paint it! , bricks here are the standard in all constructions, I hate it!, here they are so common, everything is bricks, bricks (good anti seismic material, but ugly in my opinion), half of this house have brick walls and all are painted, and we are thinking in actually cover the bricks with something flat, they always get dirty, catch all the dust, I have mentioned that I hate it?, lol
