Thank you! I think we are wanting privacy along the fence line, just because if you stand in the area behind the fence (which is uphill) you can look down at our entire yard area.

My apologies, I am near Raleigh, NC.

Thank you for the suggestion/tips. I have read that about the roots growing close to the foundation. I really want to do about 5ft away from the inside of the fence. We didn't want anything in the middle of the yard just because our daughter is 3 and we would like for her to have some yard for play :)

I know little about trees and landscaping...but we did live in Charlotte for a while and planted some Leland Cyprus trees (privacy)and Crepe Myrtles (color)as soon as we moved in and they grew like crazy! We loved it-they were relatively inexpensive and took off fast. Everywhere we have lived since then, we have wished we could plant those again! Good luck!

jnorton18- I just LOVE Crepe Myrtles! They are everywhere here and pretty reasonably priced. I have never had one of my own.... How is the maintenance on them? Do the blooms become messy in the yard? Thank you!
