Thank you Benjamin, I always enjoy your thoughtful and thought-provoking articles. I've been infusing my garden with natives and other non-thirsty plants for 5 years now. I live very close to downtown and yet the increase of (mini) wildlife is remarkable. Bees enjoy months of bloom with native poppy, penstemon & ceanothus plus germander & sunflowers that are never watered but flower like mad. Lots of birds visit including turkey (not so mini!). I'm building raised beds with local rock and am hoping lizards find their way to my backyard. I've even seen the occasional grumpy looking mantis hiding in the green. My garden is a never ending joy.
