Bond Girl I don't think it's the roof that's throwing you off. I think it's the roof hanging over that tiny window, with so much wall left below. Try a bigger window, or, like the lake house posted above, a slider/french doors. Or add landscaping to soften it up. Cool place!

handymam So cute! I agree that it is not odd, but ifn fact interesting. Perhaps you could remove the giant bush and build a small deck to widen the entrance area. It would be lovely to sit out there at night on some comfortable chairs with a nice cool drink.

kissyface bond girl: I am going to remove that bush. I can't make a slider because the kitchen is behind it. I am going to make a bigger window. Everyone seems consistent on a deck so that's probably the way to go. I will wait to see if any other ideas come in.

Bond Girl The house is adorable. The color scheme is fine, if you're concerned about budget, I wouldn't worry about that right away.
I'm not fond of the trim under the windows. If you can't remove it, you could hide it by painting it the color of the house.
The space above the double windows is too large, and out of proportion. There are a few ways that can be helped. You could repeat the vertical treatment that's over the front door. I'd love to see that metal awning on the side door replaced with what's over the front door as well.
I'm never a fan of white doors. I'd prefer the color of the shutters.
Agree with the landscape suggestions. Since you live in a cold climate, be sure to pick things that have form or interest even in the winter. Congrats on the new house!

hparks74 Awesome post war! Honestly, not feeling the green for me. I think the charm is lost when a house is painted the color of the predominate landscape. A medium grey while keeping the cream trim would look great. I don't think I'd paint the gutters to blend I think they'd look great copper. I live in a post war neighborhood near downtown Nashville and a fellow member of our NHA painted his guttering a copper color and added window boxes and its awesome. Your house has huge charm so don't get overwhelmed. Good luck.

lhilyard Hi hparks74, I don't mean to jump in on this conversation but I am really interested in seeing the copper downspouts. Is there anyway you could post a photo? And any idea what brand and color of paint they used? Thanks!
