Wow look at that tree thing. I'd love that in a not intrusive area! I wonder if it's real...?

I'm buying my first home and in a way I'm glad it's dragged on for 9 months (and in so many ways I'm not glad at all!) because I spent hours and hours looking at pictures on Houzz, in magazines and shop windows to work out my style. I don't own much (just too many books as I've been boxing them for three days), no furniture at all so I really have a blank canvas. I realised I like coastal/tropical/industrial and it's getting quite clear in my head how to piece them together. Also, I love natural stone so my kitchen backsplash will have to be split face slate, no question about it!
It was a very enjoyable article and so true, e.g. matching furniture would be way too risky for me! :-)

Great list! I can add- turn your books around for the page-edge to show. The all white look can lighten the feel of the room. It is a bit harder to find a book but its fun to go searching too!

Paint color could be Beach Glass by Benjamin Moore. One of my favorites.

LIving in the SF Bay Area, makes one tend to take the City (as we lovingly refer to it, not Frisco for god's sake) for granted. It is a foodie paradise and while you identified some of the good eateries, you left out the food trucks. And the historical flower stalls on Market and other downtown streets, though not pedaling the now trendy, gag me, succulents, are a stunning visual excess nonetheless. You forgot that the Ferry Building hosts a huge farmer's market on Sundays with restaurant tasting booths out back on the pier. The moved Asian Art Museum to the Civic Center has revitalized that area. And the long walk by the Bay down Crissy field from Fort Mason south past the SF Yacht club to the Golden Gate Bridge is good for man and beast alike. Wandering around the outbound reaches like the Presidio, Angel Island, and the newly opened, and stunning, Bay Bridge is also worth the jaunt. However, I often go to Chinatown to shop for stocking stuffers. Eating crab at Christmas and the holidays when the tourists are gone at Fisherman's wharf is our nostalgic version of a holiday tradition...next best place to do that is Cannery Row down in Monterey.
