Engineer chic was right on in pointing out that the porch swing hung parallel to the house doesn't have enough room to properly swing. Usually, porch swings are hung perpendicular to the house so that they can swing more freely.

We had a porch swing when I was little and sometimes took my nap on it. We lived in a charming Craftsman bungalow when my kids were little and they did the same thing. I miss that porch and that house. It had character. I would love to add a front porch, complete with swing, to our current house, but I have to renovate the kitchen and Florida room first.

My granny had a swing on each end of her front porch facing each other. There were 7 of us grandkids & we always piled up on them. I have so many memories there. Granny & I would sit there & she would pretend with me that we were in a plane flying over people's houses we knew & waving.

My parents didn't have a porch when I was a kid, but they built one several years ago & once again there are dual swings. My kids love it too. I have a deck, not a porch. Luckily the former owners built a frame into the deck in one corner to hold a swing so I am enjoying it very much.

I really prefer a spice drawer. I used my own jars and labeled (and color-coded) the tops. I can buy loose spices or supplement with home-grown herbs, which is a big money savings, as well!

Good job!! Love the Mexican touch of color, too, as well as the canister designs. I had granite several years ago, loved it. Then moved to a condo with TILE - ugh, ugh, ugh!! I think I'll go with the quartz next time as I've heard such positive reports on it. That's the real reason for redoing our kitchen this time. Appliances are all 18 years old and barely making it. They will definitely be WHITE next time, too.

Oak & Broad
I would agree with Crisp Architects. It looks like an Oak floor, they have mixed the widths and left some circle sawn marks as well. Its very pretty.
