gaelosh intriguing that no one seems to need a washer / dryer in this space

Beth Gaelosh some of the properties have European style combo washer/dryer in the kitchen, while some have room in the bathroom for a stackable washer dryer unit. Yet other properties will have laundry rooms on each floor for all the residents to use.

laurendallas I so agree with the less [space] is more in the kitchen. We purposely kept our kitchen area small on our last remodel to make it more efficient work-wise, but also to save money on cabinetry. Now that our home is on the market, we've gotten some push-back from those who think you've got to have 3-4 times as much space to fry an egg. So funny! The keys to our successful kitchen are, like you, European appliances and cabinets, deep drawers that make the most of storage space, and in our case, a decent sized utility room a few steps away that holds bulky, seldom used items.

oldblackdog It never occurred to me to angle in a sink in this way to optimize access - that alone is worth looking at the design. Also, leaving the open counter space in front of the window opens the space instead of blocking it with the standard sink set up. The idea of an industrial strength plywood - that doesn't need refinishing -ever - is another attraction. But it's one of those idiosyncratic tastes - you know that come resale you will have people who don't get it.
Drawer storage - handy - but I am not fascinated by rows of matching/fitting containers. Who is going to take the time to transfer contents from container to container? And ensure they are labeled? I could imagine arguments that ensue: you put the basil in the cilantro spot! Altho' - the other side is - this reminds me of a boat galley, with everything you actually need pretty much within arm's length, a fantastic tiny kitchen!

There are a few I've seen, but not sure if readers have any advice? Most of the small units are electric dryers and we want a gas dryer.
