I love my 665 sq. ft. house! Lower heating costs, less cleaning time, sunny and pleasant. My only hardships are entertaining (you have to be creative - my biggest party was an open house, with guests coming and going from 1 - 6 pm) and at times, work-at-home clutter. I'm in my early 60s and my friends with bigger homes express nothing but envy. This is a house I can stay in; it would be unaffordable and impractical in a larger (especially multi-story) home.

@Sharon Miller: I grew up in a house that was barely 1100 square feet that had 3 modest bedrooms, 1 bath, an eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, and a basement with a workshop, canning and freezer space, and laundry area with a shower. It startles people today when I tell them that our parents raised 6 kids there. Yep, 8 people in that house before the older ones started heading off to college. It can be done...and happily.
