I love the concrete look. I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to it, but whenever I see it used this way, I'm attracted to it.

I definitely prefer the concrete look. Personally I would find the plywood room somewhat overwhelming and claustrophobic.

I wish there was a photo of the house from far away -- it's hard to tell how these porches lay out with the home.

An very inviting space. I would just add that for curtains, on our screened porch, I've gotten away with inexpensive white tone on tone striped sheers. (I think they're a cotton/poly blend, but it's been a while so can't remember for sure.) No need to splurge on "indoor / outdoor" fabric. The curtains just dry on the rod when they get wet and have lasted about three years so far.

Full disclosure, I'm an editor for a design publication, but having said that, this article is spot on in several areas, particularly in the growth of virtual design. Many of our designers tell us that their clients often have their ideas pretty well in place; they like the designers to offer a second opinion and make any suggestions for improvement rather than designing the entire project top to bottom.

I am 62 and just finished my renovations (two bathrooms and a kitchen). I also had wainscoting and crowne moulding added to many rooms. I cannot imagine sitting back, looking at my home and wishing I had done this and missing out on the lovely results. My new 'loves' are the many shades of gray I have painted in several rooms. One more to go and it is going to be dark charcoal with the white trim. Pops of yellow, turquoise, and blues bring the rooms to life.

In a nutshell, every color and pattern you add to a space places limits on further additions.

Thoughtful design is like a quality piece of writing: write your outline, write your paper and then edit, edit, edit.

Well done Houzz! The photos were not elongated. They actually depicted the small spaces. Much appreciated, since articles on small houses always enlarge the rooms with special lenses and ruin the whole experience.

Haleydaniels...not all Realtors® are the same. I have always discouraged overspending, and have been happy when my clients find a less expensive option they love. Not all of us are immoral and money hungry. With me, it takes as long as it takes to find the right one, and I WILL talk you out of it if it is a bad investment or gets too expensive. I always remind clients of their goals, and discourage bad behavior. The Golden Rule applies. I don't want my family and friends treated poorly, so I treat everyone like they are family and live by the rule that the implications of the choices made affect me, as well! If you move to my neck of the woods, come see me. I would love to show you how decent and caring a Realtor® can be!

I really like the bambo dining chairs. I would like to price
them and know where they could be purchased.
