Sand Springs, OK
Comfortable traditional with modern ammenities. Nothing cookie cutter though.
My next project: My husband and I designed and are building our final dream home on 5 acres. We (with a little help from my daughter and son-in-law) are doing the actual physical building. It is a 1 1/2 story "farmhouse." We demolished most of the existing house and rebuilt. It is dried in now. The siding is on. We are stoning it now. I made the stones with Styrofoam and concrete and then faux painted them. It has an upstairs with a master bedroom, an extra bedroom, living room and laundry. It has an exterior door (full glass though) at the top of the stairs and is completely separated with its own HVAC. The upstairs is for company now but designed for someone to look after older parents/grandparents who live in the downstairs master bedroom. The downstairs will have a few unique things. Beside the foyer is the library opening to the open expansive stairway going up. An office is tucked under the steps. The master bedroom has a "beach room." French doors from the bedroom lead to a 11x15 sitting room with large windows. There is a "sandbox" so I can lie on a towel and twiddle my toes in the sand! "Some beach, some where!" Off the kitchen is a large walk in pantry and then the mudroom. The mudroom has a glass walk-in "shower" with south and west facing windows. I will have a hydroponic greenhouse there.
About me: Retired stay at home mom of 3. Kids grown, 10 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids! Went back to school and finished my PhD in Natural Health. Grew up a military brat and lived in base housing. I learned to dislike "little boxes made of ticky-tacky and they all look alike!"
