I don't like to play it save. I like to take a step back and apply the general principles that I believe in, to end up with a remarkable and unusual looking house. Generally I like to combine decorative elements and mementos from ones personal history-the places you've been, where you're at and where you're going- arranging them artfully but yet very simplified. Creating a stylish, beautiful, lived-in home.
My favorite style:
The Bauhaus movement influenced the modern architecture. Large white houses with a lot of glass is defnitely something I can relate to. The industrial design is also a style that can beautifully combined with the modern style. The unusual simplistic style-getting back to the basics-but ofcourse a house should still be cosy. The tradisional style with immediate patterns that are broken up by shapes, colors, sizes and off centre linkages- making the objects living and organic.
My next house project:
A house should be cosy and warm and loving but still simplified and clean. It is very hard to form a modern or industrial style that is white and clean-perfect- without it looking cold and untouched. Houses should send a message what, who and how you are. What you like and dislike. Mixing and matching styles has become a trend itself. One just needs to choose the right styles that can be combined.
