My eldest daughter's birthday is in mid-May and she had a few slumber parties outside in a big camping tent. They roasted marshmallows over the fire bowl and got sick on Smores. My middle child's birthday is in August so she always had pool parties. My son's was in early March when it's still on the cool side, so we ate inside, but did have a few games setup in the yard, like a bow and arrow with a target and a pinata, and we did a scavenger hunt one year. We had a large 8' long wood picnic table that was well used when the kids were younger. Grilled hot dogs and hamburgers aren't expensive to feed a crowd so we served them at every party. Fun times. :-) For summer activities with kids, you can't go wrong with a fire bowl, picnic table, trampoline, and pool -- none broke the bank and they used them more than anything else we had, even the dirtbikes and 4-wheeler.

I like the bocce ball court, we just do it on the lawn but grass & lumps make the action unpredictable.

Maybe it's just me but I need a rail where I don't feel I'm gonna fall off! I like the idea of these transparent ones but too many are too scary!

Sarah Anspaugh, you just might've come across the clue for keeping robins away from ruining an entire crop of cherries - plant Serviceberry adjacent to them.
As your experience indicates, they appear to prefer them.
Sorry I can't help you out with any info on Paw Paw - but there's plenty online.

My husbands old Golden Retriever adored the rotten pears off the ground under their tree. I can remember watching him chomp the mushy fruit, absolutely grinning while angry yellow jackets buzzed all around his head. That dog must have had the worst gas, later in the day!!

I like that the large garden is set against a tiny house. With so much going on in the yard this sized house makes perfect sense. I can't show this article to my wife however because she's put enough on my plate already.
