As a Londoner I can assure you that the un-curtained window is at the rear of the house. Most London terraced (row) houses have back to back gardens, with 6' fencing and a lot of shrubbery & trees, so one would have to work quite hard to get a glimpse of the occupants.

@ Sally Maguire- Symonds "with 6' fencing and a lot of shrubbery & trees"....... All the better to be hidden from passersby. The people who make the effort to see what you are doing are not interested in what you're making for dinner they are however very interested in what you possess and how vulnerable you are. Believing that one does not require privacy in an urban centre is naive.
