Aww, thank you, @Dana Veach - that's a nice thing to say. BTW, I took that pic after the floor was stained, cleaned & scrubbed, but it was "raw"; i.e., not yet sealed or finished. It was fun though, playing with the acid colors & the cracks!

Designbeton, is there a way to see your website in English? Exactly what I need. Do not need five extra inches in our basement.

Funny story about a house we bought before construction. The model home had beautiful french doors and we asked for the same style in our house. No problem since we were the first home in the development. We took pictures as the foundation, walls roof, etc were finished. Just after the French doors were installed in our house, we stopped by the model home which now offered only siding doors as the exit to the patio. After asking about the change, we were told that the French doors would have to be an upgrade for new home buyers because they were too costly so they had put the French doors from the model into our house. Unbelievable, how the developer hoodwinked so many. They didn't last long.

scoutstella, that's probably what I should do, although most kits don't come with the pressure regulator, timer, or filter. All essential to really use the system effectively. Those items will at least double if not triple your initial investment.

Well, we had a "professional" landscape gardener put our drip hoses in and they fell apart by the second year, now she want to just put in a overground hose with a sprinkler, I feel like she doesn't know what she doing--you guys here make it seem so much simpler than she has, should I get rid of her?

VERY nice home! Revitalizing inner city properties is the greenest form of development. Couple that with an age in place plan like this (master bedroom on the main, with future care giver accommodation attached) and you have a "home" in the truest sense. Great work!

This is one great, creative home! There's not one thing I didn't love (and I'm not fond of white all over the place!) My favorites:
The baseboard wall
The kitchen magnet wall - so educational for Noah
The wallpaper in the family room
The colored drawers in the little dresser in the family room
The fabulous cork boards in the office
The bathroom wallpaper
The Scrabble tile floor
The stairwell windows
The bird decal above the trees shower curtain
Noah's bed
The mahogany wall art in the master bedroom
The wood wall in the white bathroom
The accent floor tiles in the bathroom
The wall surfaces by the front door
And the big round chair!
Magnificent, Katie - hope you and your family enjoy such an inspiring home!

Thanks minperkins for that thought. I was thinking about that as I looked at all the pics with washer and dryers that had countertops built in. It locks you in to certain dimensions of washers and dryers.

my laundry is at the back of the garage - attached to the house but accessed from the sliding door in the family room, across the patio and you are there, approx 5 steps. I have at times wished for an internal laundry but have been grateful for my external laundry many times. The dog food lives there, the dog sleeps there, small garden equipment lives there (secateurs, gloves, weeding fork), chemicals live there. I can dump muddy sports gear, soiled linen when kids were sick, soak clothes in the tub and it is all away from the rest of the house. Last week when the tap had leaked from the washing machine it meant I didn't have a wet soggy inside mess to rectify. Living in NSW Australia I rarely use the dryer - mostly hang washing under cover of pergola - doesn't get wet if it rains, doesn't fade in the sun and can stay out for a couple of days if I am busy and don't get back to it. Sometimes it is just too hot and bright to be bothered going to the clothesline in the backyard. Love the smell of washing sun dried - very lucky that I am able to this.

OMG! I sent this to my hubby at his office and he now also wants the net! What have I done? We are doing over our home office and it WILL stay on budget (she says feebly) not like the garage update/ redo...LOL!

Yes, while I love the concept of the built in ceiling net (I REALLY do) I agree it seems to close in the vertical space a bit. But then I told my hubby he'd just end up falling asleep most of the time and clients and or friends visiting would need a special rod to poke and wake him up from underneath! No seriously, that man can nap anywhere, anytime...just recline him enough and rest his shoulders...zzzzzzzzz
