You only paint on poster boards because you can tape them to EACH wall. Color is different on EVERY wall. And you want to look at it in daylight and nighttime light. You also need to see a much larger portion at a time. You can paint one color on one side and a different color on the other side of each board. You should also always only look at one color at a time. Some people paint a bunch of little tiny blotches on the wall all next to each other. That is the WORST way to see how the color will look in YOUR room.

This is STUNNING. The only thing I would change is the paint color. With so much light tile you could add some drama by using a dark color like a navy or dark purple.

Mine is not tiny, I have a toilet and a bidet with leg room, and a window with a view.

hi san_ja, I find a sublime beauty in people of any tradition, faith, or religion, able to manifest the spiritual dimension of building up humanity in a constructive manner. Lack of this is disrespect.

This is a stunning transformation! I love that you kept a nice grey flow throughout! May I ask what your inspiration or technique was for mixing with the grey walls? I just moved into a new home with grey neutrals (dark grey accent walls) and am trying to figure out how to add colour throughout...and how to mix them! :)

The darker the better and when the light peaks through my blinds, it's sleep mask time. I like my bedroom to be like a cave when I'm sleeping, cool and dark.

Somehow Ruth Orr's story doesn't ring true. The only "boudoir" I know of in French is a lady's bedroom or sitting room. The term is derived from "bouder" which means to sulk or pout. I assume French women retreated to the "boudoir" when they were moody. I've seen one of these before but don't know what the actual term to define it is. I think it looks to be more English Victorian than French.

Those sofas are very weird. They are so high and visually obstruct the space. They also look amazingly uncomfortable. I think you could have achieved the same impact using the same colors on normal height sofas.

It's really pretty. I always wonder how people can change their style that much. Does the rest of the house transform, too? Do people suddenly learn to be clutter free and organized?

@IslandArchitecture, the permit/inspection issue concerns waterproofing, not grouting. The OP, far from "reaming" her contractor, is worrying about how to handle this because he's a neighbor. Maybe practice your "Careful Reading" and "Thoughtful Posting" poses a little bit :)

Just had to add this...

I'm not very creative and design is not my thing, but this change really made me think about people like me who will easily pay more for the most basic changes.

If I were on the market for a home and walked into the first home, I would have walked away without even making an offer. In the second home, I would have easily made an offer and paid more.

Lesson: Many times, you hear "all you need is a coat or 2 of paint." This confirms it.

I want the cat in photograph number three. He/she exudes an air of refinement and elegance that a human doorman/doorwoman simply could not achieve.
