We appreciate all your comments! We love architecture, we love woodwork. Our approach was to preserve, transform, and demonstrate that dark, and aged woodwork can also be maintained and revisited. In an extensive renovation project, often we see woodwork removed just because it is too much trouble to repair, color match, and refit. At the end, in a conservation approach, if you can remove what you did to something; recolour wood trims, you keep it alive. This is what we did... So many of the arts and crafts houses are just stripped from their content because they are just too dark (and usually, they are located on the best streets). We wanted to demonstrate that you can keep them alive and livable in 2013! M+R

Great article, I have had a lot of success with lemons in pots. They seem to grow really well, also my herbs and since planting basil and sage in the same long pot the sage is not being eaten, it was not planned I just was in a hurry that day. However I have never been successful with tomatoes, they start off well but never get much fruit and have problems with the diseases etc. I use potting mix and fertilise but just don't ever have much luck. Any suggestions?

This is a really lovely room. It manages to be peaceful and serene but also full of interest at the same time. Very cleverly done and I think totally beyond me - I never think of this stuff!
