@dianneoz for us, cellular shades are more popular than ever. Since plantation shutters have stood the test of time for centuries, it's easy to say that they'll be more timeless, but cellular shades certainly aren't a fad. They can be styled for a traditional look all the way to ultra modern and everything in between. We say, go for it!

@dianneoz - we agree with the comment above.

- as you can see in our images of the cellular shades, they go in various room settings.
Cellular Shades are definitely not out of date.

Love this article and all the comments. @morgana44, I too hang my art all over the house. Since it is my own art, I created it and have many paintings to choose from, I can switch them out for the seasons or when I change paint colors or decorating styles. Definitely love your motto and live by it! barbara-griffin.artistwebsites.com

Am I the only one who loves the look of great looking empty frames hung on wall?!? (Over the tub)
The trick is having colors and quality that compliment each other.
Another eye catching look is to have one large frame bordering gradually smaller frames in size and shape. Just make sure you start with a a great looking "hefty size" large frame...the more impressive frame acts as "the frame" for all the others and....starts the WOW factor.
Begin in thrift shops...ignore the art in the frame...made sure all the finishes work with each other...or spray paint them all one color...or colors that look playful together.
This always makes an unexpected art design...and....the "search"can become a fun way to shop with pals....you can even give your self a dollar amount...although I would not scrimp on the initial large frame for the frames.
Have fun!!!!

Well stated, Melanie. To some people it is more important to be historically correct and others are more "free-spirited" and enjoy creating their own style! Some people take pleasure in expressing themselves by surrounding themselves in a space which reveals their own personality and it makes them comfortable.

The only bathroom I really liked now that I can afford something nice is the one with the bright blue vanity and clawfoot tub. Everything about it appeals to me from the pale walls, to the hardwood floors to the white sheers. Just simple but elegant looking. Love it. When I start my remodel on my vacay I will be copying that look.

After a couple of bathroom remodels I used pocket doors exclusively. I see too many examples of the toilet put in a separate enclosure for what ever reason. Then having an in swinging door. What happens if someone has a medical issue or simply falls against the door? It could have very disastrous results. I cannot fathom why any professional designer would consider such a feature.

@chrisfocus, there are a number of ideabooks about working with an architect. They are all under Ideabooks/Architecture. Try this one Ideabook: How to Hire the Right Architect: Comparing Fees and this one Ideabook: Go Beyond the Basics When Interviewing Architects
To find architects to interview, you can view portfolios on Houzz, selecting by your metro area. You can contact the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for assistance. Ask co-workers, look for homes under construction that you like and ask who the architect is, look in local magazines for work you like, do a local Google search. You can also call contractors whose work you like. We frequently have homeowners call us first, and offer a list of 2-3 architects who we think will be a good fit for their project. Hope your project goes well!

Chrisfocus,
The American Institute of Architects is a good place to start. AIA.org is a great resource. They also have local chapters that architects are members. We also give recommendations to clients of names of architects that we have worked with in the past. We also offer design build services at our company if that is the direction you would prefer to go towards. We have a really good article that we wrote on our blog on our website about what design build offers to the bottom line, that is your money. www.Prime1Builders.com under the News & Blog section. It all depends on what direction you want to go.

@magilojoh, thanks. yes it's actually 4.33' x 7.75'. maybe the large 26"x13" wall tiles make the area look bigger, although the flooring would contradict that :(. plus there are no windows in this bathroom but i don't miss one as much as i would if the room was much bigger.
