I wouldn't buy anything from Burpee or any other major seed companies (even if they state they are open pollinated or heirloom). Pretty much all of them are owned by Monsanto now, which means you're eating poison. If it says it's organic or heirloom with "Monsanto" somewhere on the label, then they're definitely lying. They will absolutely be genetically modified.

Some seed companies that you can trust (that I personally use and can vouch for):

Ohio Heirloom Seeds on eBay: http://stores.ebay.com/ohioheirloomseeds/

Ozark Locally Grown on eBay (she’s great for organic seed potatoes, I recommend Kennebec, they’re a good starter if you’ve never grown before): http://stores.ebay.com/ozarklocallygrown/

Sustainable Seed Co.: http://sustainableseedco.com/

Azure Dandelion (she has a great variety of bean seed and also other veggies etc): http://www.azuredandelion.com/heirloom-seeds-1/?zenid=va52uas0hsnh1gmrf79hsfilo3

And for some rare, unique finds, Baker Creek Heirlooms: http://www.rareseeds.com/

Hope that helps, the more people that know about government-protected Monsanto and their genetically modified crap all over the market, the more we can change it!!
