Hi Charles,
What a beautiful home you have! I just want to add my thought about not putting in slate floors. Wood please!!!! Love the brick too!

Freshen up the color but a beautiful rug would be perfect to start

Keep the brick & put in new hardwood floors. Pecan would be nice with the brick...,

Just wondering if you are fixed on painting an accent wall. You don't have any window coverings or art on the wall. Maybe that alone would spice up the room. Do you have any art for the walls?

Personally, I would find some bed linen I loved and start there. Your room is a blank slate right now. The art you choose should be something you love because you will be looking at it every day. Do you love that art?

I would definitely remove the bookshelf. What about a large mirror above the dresser?

A swivel chair is just what you need by the window.

The door in the back leads to the closet and the toilet is in a separate area with a door just to the right as you enter the room.

Put in a door. Everything else is cosmetic.

Sounds like the consensus is to start by getting a door. I guess I will start there. I have a contractor from out of state coming for a visit soon, so I will pick his brain. Thank you for the feedback everyone. It helps me so much.

I'm torn between the beach house in Something's Gotta Give or the house from The Big Chill (okay, I'm dating myself). Can I have them both?????

I love the new mirror and I think it looks great in the room. It is definitely a statement piece and I love that! As someone else stated, the white mirror is just too delicate for the space. I think you are going to have a beautiful room. The curtains look elegant and I would definitely keep them as well.

The mirror you had looks like part of a dresser. It doesn"t work with the rustic table and chandelier. If you keep the white mirror you need to darken the frame. You need to use more rustic chairs and lots of pictures.

You have gotten so many great suggestions. I definitely agree with putting the tv on the wall opposite the sofa on some type of low and long credenza. You will find the right piece on craigslist if you are patient. My very first thought when I saw your room was that the mirror had to go. It is a very unique piece, but just doesn't feel right in the room. Hopefully you can find another spot for it in your home. I understand what you are saying about the room feeling heavier on one side to you, but I think that would be easily fixed with some additional seating. If you moved the tv, you could put a chair in that corner. Granted, that person wouldn't be able to see the tv, but maybe that could be a little reading corner. Just a thought. You have enough space that all the furniture doesn't have to hug the wall. Pull things in a bit. Great space to work with. Good luck! Post more pics as you rearrange. By the way, I think your rug can work if you move pieces in a bit.

Ditto! Might be good for a museum but not for my living room.

I wondered it that table escaped from Spencer's bedroom thread.

Definitely better. I would try clustering 3 items on the opposite side of the lamp instead of lining them all up in a row like that. Leave some empty space in the middle of the table. If your Buddha is tall enough, maybe you could try that alone on the right side. Just a thought. I am certainly not an expert. :)

If you try the Buddha, try turning him in toward the center a bit instead of facing him straight forward. Just a tweak.

I like where you moved the lamp. Now, I would put two coffee table books under the flowers (or replace flowers with Buddha) and maybe a rug to pick up the colors of the pillows?
