ptmatthews: I wrap a freezer pack in a pillowcase, and stick it down by my feet. I guess like in the olden days when they used bedwarmers from the fire to warm themselves. cooling your feet or hands is one of the best ways to cool down quickly (although I do know a trick with an ice-cube- but that's for another forum) ;)

When someone said they're waiting for wireless lighting, the image of an old-fashioned oil lamp jumped into my mind. I don't have one, but I do use candles for soft lighting in awkward-for-cords places. That's wireless technology for you!

That was me. I can't use candles (have a really bushy tailed cat), it is very hard to find scentless candles, and I really like to sit where I want when reading. Candle power is not very good for reading but fabulous for dining. I have become used to electric lighting, just don't want all my furniture lined up against walls, or cords running everywhere, or going to the expense of drilling holes in the floors and tunneling wiring to the walls. If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we put all men on the moon ;)
