I debated back and forth on this decision for so long. I've always wanted a white kitchen for how light and bright the space feels but I also have kids and know the cabinets would get beat up more noticeably with paint and white paint especially. I have two friends with painted cabinets in brand new homes and already paint is chipping and peeling in less than a year.

So.... I opted for painted white uppers and stained bottoms. To add to the adventure I picked my favorite gray paint color that I would have used for paint and instead had a custom stain made to match the paint color. It turned out gorgeous. I got the best of both worlds with the feeling of a white kitchen (also picked a white countertop) but the durability and maintenance level of stain on those harder hit areas in family life. Very happy with the whole design.
