I love my front verandah. We have an old Victorian with a wrap-around porch, so have hung ferns and railing 'window' boxes around all 3 sides. Lots of wicker furniture and candles. This year I added a small deck pond, and got a few small pond plants and some goldfish. I live out here all summer long. When I go out in the spring to set it up, my husband says, 'well, bye, guess I'll see you in the fall!'

Forgot to add we live in Cornwall Ontario Canada, and have been having a very hot summer so far. Last night we sat on our verandah and watched our July 1st fireworks going off down by the river (St. Lawrence). We live 2 blocks away and the breeze coming off the river is 'heaven'.

@Shea Joy - I think turquoise sounds lovely with peach (painted?) brick, but to match the brick correctly (and be as bright as you'd like but not too bright), you may need to go through a lot of paint samples. It's definitely worth it, though! Make sure you love the color before you paint the whole door. Have fun testing!

I like the hanging cauldron or any type of open fire place. It's a primal thing to stare at. That's what folks used to look at back in the days before TV. Staring at a fire makes the mind wander better than anything.
