Love mid century decor and have incorporated many vintage pieces into my home. I especially love the housewares in teak, Scandinavian glass pieces and West German Fat Lava pottery.

18 months ago I bought a 1959 Florida ranch home. Since I had sold most of my furniture prior to my move here from New Jersey, I was in the market for furnishings for my bed room, living room, etc. The problem was the the furniture marketed in the stores today is massive in size and way too big for the scale of my house! My solution? Search out Mid-Century furnishings on Craigslist and estate sales. I found a Broyhill bedroom set (headboard, footboard, long dresser with mirror and tall dresser) that fit the scale of my house perfectly! The headboard is not higher than the windowsill! The style is not for everyone...but it 'fits' my house.

Very nicely done. I'm wondering about the floors. The only comment I could find was "the floors are concrete". Was this original to the house or was some other flooring removed? We've been thinking about pulling up old carpeting and either staining or painting the concrete underneath. Any info on the techniques would be appreciated.

The front door says it all..."let's have some fun and not take ourselves too seriously". Good call. With so many mcm iconic pieces...easy to fall into the trap of not venturing outside of the period. Nice vide...kudos.
