Good point about the elevator.
We have planned in a spot to add one, but we did not put it in yet.
The previous owner had a stairlift, which we kept.
It goes from the second (front door level) to the third floor.
It has come in very handy with our older friends.

Marsia -

You must have done something wrong. These designers said they had no problems with their neighbors despite blocking off those windows.

My point being, I highly doubt that aspect of the project was as smooth sailing as they portray it. If it was my window being blocked I'd want to be compensated for it.

Wow, Things change out there fast.........I know where this house is, I used to pass it on my way to Smoke Tree Shopping Center, Ralphs. I do hope this is a second home for these guys, It will be lovely to be there from Oct-April. We lived there year round, and had Solar Panels.......but still it was like Summer would never end and 110F is normal in August, it just is not the place to be, nor do I think it was built that way back in the 50-60's. But I must say what a almost perfect reno for Palm Springs........Trina Turk Pillows, on the Sofa, I have them too, but moved back East.........Can't afford 2 homes. Lucky guy's enjoy it while you can.

@luvwhidbeyisland, i think your rug suggestion would be too obvious; i sense there is a hidden message in everything in this home, and i'm guessing only the owner really knows the playbook!

but i love yours too.

I lived a couple doors down from this place. The block is beautiful. One big problem, seeing that blue god forsaken sculpture every day when I come home from work. It literally looks like pickup sticks painted blue. No better way to kill a block than putting your sculptures in plain sight to overhang on public property. Ahhhgghh!!!!!!!

I love this house. Not what you'd expect to find in the country in the UK, makes it all the more interesting.

I really like the "loft" feel of this home. A few days ago, Houzz featured a dining room that while it was cool, some of the elements didn't feel right in the space to me. However, those dining room elements that I didn't like in that home, would be perfect for this home.

The home in and of itself, is a work of art. Beautifully done!

Nice addition designed to meet the family needs, I like the contrast. The gable vents at the top (assuming they are) were a smart touch. I've seen many of the projects that Rick and Cindy have done, they are routinely included on the AIA/modern home tours. Always nice work!

pamlet, it sounds like the space works for the owners. Isn't that all that really matters?
