jimzeichman Gosh, I do not mean to be critical, but if I were renovating such a great old house, I would not be putting in cheap new junk, mostly made in China. My wife and I own a 1939 bungalow. We have been visiting reuse centers, consignment shops, vintage resalers, e-bay, antiquers, yard sales, etc. We've spent the last two years trying to undo what the previous owners thought were improvements. Our fun is in the hunt for period items whick retain the original character of the house. To us, there is nothing worse than walking into a beautiful old house which has been "updated" with granite countertops, laminate floors and cheap, trendy lighting from Home Depot. I'm sorry, fellow Houzzers, for sounding so surly about it.

bettylynne It's been my experience that you get what you pay for. You can buy the "cheap, trendy lighting" at Home Depot or other big box stores and in six months it will be rusted and probably not working. Or if you want to find the perfect light and have it last, simply invest a little more up front. Companies like Barn Light Electric may seem "pricey" but they product quality, American made lighting. You have many more options to choose from and your lighting will be crafted to last for years. Worth the price in my opinion.
