Johnston Architects I believe the stain was a Cabots product, a semi transparent stain. I can't recall the color. These days we are using a lot of Cabots Australian Timber Oil. The product holds up well and comes in great colors

Cathy Schwabe Architecture Hi-
Thanks for the compliment.
CABOT® WOOD TONED DECK & SIDING STAIN
#3000 Series is what was used -- I am not seeing notes in my files about which color -- there are four options. The key is to do a test on your wood and see what you think. Usually you can purchase really small sample cans for the test. It is worth this cost. Your wood will always take the stain differently than any sample color seen in the store.
It does require new coats periodically, just like paint - depends on the location and orientation - I would plan on every 5 years max.
thanks for the question,
Cathy

chadbourne + doss architects Hi. So far the Owner's have decided to leave it natural. The cedar has turned silver grey.
If there is any moss or algae build up, pressure washing will remove it, but also take it back to its natural color.
If you desired to maintain the natural cedar color, we would recommend an oil finish. Thanks for your interest.

Alpenglow Building & Design Inc. This siding is composed of natural barnwood with no finish. The colors and hues are natural. On other projects using barnwood we have sprayed a clear UV coating to resist fade. For cedar, I would recommend a wood conditioner to brighten it up and then a clear sealer to finish. Hope this helps.
