We're also planning to update our kitchen. Not sure what era the cabinets were from - the house is a '57 model.
The cabinets are still study and solid. But the doors are dark and edges are peeling. I think it's a lacquer finish. And we Need more cabinet for storage. I think our best bet is to either change the doors, reface the cabinets, and add new cabinets. I'm just afraid it won't look consistent throughout if we mix old and new.

The color is called Ornamental White. I found it at Stoneworks of Augusta (GA) and they got it through a supplier in The Charlotte, NC area. I never saw that color at any of the other granite shops in our area. It was the cheapest of the 3 colors I considered and I thought it was the best for my setting. Our house is rather modest by today's standards (2000 sq ft brick ranch) and I am very pleased with our remodel--the right balance of function, beauty, and cost.
