I worry about mixing. I chose a Delta stainless finish on my faucets but wonder what sconce finish I could do. Is Antique nickel close or should I do a contrast like Venetian bronze?

Probably too late to chime in, but I did a brushed nickel light fixture with my Delta stainless faucet, and it looks great!

My large bedroom closet is right outside my bathroom door. I had my husband install shelves to give me all of the bathroom storage I need.....large bath towels, baskets for extra toilet paper, personal toiletries. It reduces the need for bulky storage in the bathroom itself. I only want to store essentials in there.

Regarding Celtsinpa's concerns of reglazing the tub/tiles and having the paint/glaze flake off...it does. I bought a condo in 2010 that had all the tiled areas of the bath glazed a neutral eggshell? It is now apparent that it was to cover the 70's avocado green tile that was original. When I first moved in I thought little of the neutral bathroom other than it would be easy to redecorate temporarily. Unfortunately after the first year I noticed several areas where it had begun to flake and since then it has just gotten worse. It could have been from improper preparation prior to the glazing. I don't know as I don't plan on having it redone for sure! Every time I have to clean with any type of materials such as a sponge it gets worse! I 'think' the reason it lasted as long as it did was due to my rare need of hand cleaning. I have always used a spray- on tub and shower cleaner while afterwards letting the fan run until area is completely dry. Hope this helps. But just saying...not for me...

Hi Laura, if I remember correctly the frame of the mirror did exceed the width of the pedestal sink, but exactly by how much I'm not certain of anymore. It worked well for us in this space because it is directly across from the doors to the bathroom, the actual mirror portion was approximately the same size as the sink and by mounting the sconces directly on the mirror your eye is drawn more towards the center of the mirror than the outer edges.

Thank you for your (quick) response! Yes, I was thinking something like that. I'm a righty, so I don't think I'd want the toilet paper on the left.

I agree sit on the toilet and find the most comfortable spot to reach the toilet roll, there is nothing worse than having to turn into a contortionist to reach the toilet roll. Practicality tops aesthetics.

Keep the hand towel away from the toilet, the otherside of the vanity looks good.

TP holder must go on vanity. It's too tight space wise on the other side under the window. Since the vanity is shallow depth, consider a TPHolder that is vertical. Otherwise, go with your first choice. The one with a square plate to emulate your sink.

Hang towel holder on wall to left of sink. Add some floating glass shelves above it in same length.

You mean as in this photo, where the area is covered by mirror and the frame lies on top of it? Except, in my case it would be one frame overlying the entire area?

Here is a place where you can custom order a frame. As it is a rental you should check if ok to apply a mirror directly to the wall. You might be better to make or have made a frame the size and style you like so it isn't permanent.

You've changed my outlook entirely! From this point further, whenever selecting a sofa or cushion, I will ask myself "Would a chihuahua look good in this setting?" I was just mulling over whether or not to buy a set of Pottery Barn-like angel wings for my wall - now I have to consider how a chihuahua would look flanked by them. I've decided definitely not in scale. Decision made. Thank you for an entertaining article!

If you go with the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) guidelines then the top of the sink lip should be 34" above the ground ie. if you went to a public washroom in a mall in the US then that is the height it would be required to be at. By the same standards there should be a minimum of 27" clearance underneath. However unless there is something specific in your local building bylaws then given this is a private residence you have some flexibility & could go a couple inches higher if that is more comfortable for you both.

Hi, I have no trouble with the range of motion and mine are fairly close to the backsplash. I can barely fit my hand behind it but using a toothbrush to clean around it works well.

The curved makes it feel like there is more space. Sometimes in a smaller shower you end up touching the curtain, the curve keeps it a bit further away. For example, in the picture her elbow/arm would be touching the curtain if it was straight. If you really hate the look then you certainly don't have to! i do believe some of the rods are adjustable, I'm not sure to what degree though. http://s7d9.scene7.com/is/image/BedBathandBeyond/20280240028217p?$478$

It looks like there isn't much space behind them, but there was the min. clearance. The levers cleared the backsplash with no problem and yes, there is is plenty off room to clean behind them.

I don't think the 8" is too high. In fact, that faucet in the picture on the sink looks to be about that high. I would be more concerned with the projection, [you don't want to hit your head on it when washing your face] but the faucet you choose looks good for that too. I would make sure the finish on my drain matches the faucet.

Also- some faucets come with the pop up drains. So double check that before ordering :)
